Co-opThe same answer says no co-op features are planned.Do not buy for a confirmed two-player session on the basis of this listing.
NPC relationships and minigamesThe store lists interacting with characters and challenging NPCs.These are not evidence of a lobby with other players.
Steam CloudThe FAQ describes save syncing between PCs, requiring a connection.Save sync is separate from playing together.
Offline playThe FAQ says play does not require an internet connection beyond platform updates; cloud sync needs one.Check your storefront’s own requirements separately.

Will co-op be added later?

The publisher’s reviewed wording says multiplayer and co-op are not planned. That is the current stated scope, not a release date for a future mode and not a guarantee that plans can never change. No confirmed multiplayer roadmap or cross-play announcement was found in the sources reviewed for this page.

A third-party guide argues that adding co-op would require rebuilding several systems. That technical argument is not adopted as an official impossibility claim. Likewise, the absence of a player avatar does not independently prove what a developer could implement later.

Can friends still enjoy it alongside each other?

You can discuss your separate playthroughs and share screenshots while playing independently; that is a social suggestion rather than an in-game co-op mechanic. The publisher’s photo-mode and single-player descriptions support keeping those ideas separate.

The FAQ describes end-of-day autosaves and manual saving through the Pause Menu. If taking turns at one computer, save your own progress before leaving a session. The reviewed source does not establish profile slots, concurrent players, save-merging or a supported way to combine two cities.

Why trailers or video recommendations can be misleading

A populated city, restaurant rivals and relationship dialogue do not establish multiplayer. The official store explicitly describes NPC minigames; the FAQ supplies the play-mode answer. Search snippets can also pull unrelated co-op titles into results for this query.

Sarah Sunstone’s recent video supplies an early solo-gameplay example, not proof of a multiplayer menu or a future co-op mode. Other search hits concerned different games and were excluded. No video is treated as evidence that all future multiplayer development is impossible.
