Registration and taking the helm

When the Journal directs you to Salt Pete at the Docks, complete the registration conversation and follow the objective to Karl “Crabface” Jones near Putter. This sequence is reported by the walkthrough; exact branching dialogue has not been tested here. For a late arrival outside, read the curfew shelter approach.

Board Putter and interact with its helm. Use the controls displayed in your game rather than an assumed universal key binding.

Discover a new area with your boat

  1. Track the current Journal objective

Confirm that district discovery is the active stage rather than an earlier conversation.

  2. Cross a marked district tunnel

The walkthrough describes the opening route reaching The Stacks. Simply circling the same district leaves this objective unfinished in its report.

  3. Check objective progress and dock

Confirm the Journal has advanced and use a marked berth before leaving the boat.

  4. Return when directed

Follow the Journal’s next conversation with Salt Pete. Do not infer every later stage from a static quest list.

Treasure scanning and fishing

Third-party quest data includes later scanning, recovery and return stages, with a warning that branches may not appear together. It is useful for recognizing the current objective, not a tested complete linear route.

A Steam player reports that the fishing bobber needs to land in the marked treasure circle; the boat itself need not occupy that circle. Update #2 changes the treasure fishing-spot icon to reduce confusion. For rod controls and general fishing, see the fishing guide.

If a later stage is blocked

Record the exact active objective, district and version. District discovery, locating a treasure signal and recovering the item are different tasks; compare your Journal state before applying a tip for another stage.

This article does not provide all three treasure coordinates, every branch reward or a verified fix for a third-treasure bug. The Japanese data’s MountainTown label is not silently equated with the walkthrough’s The Stacks.
