Nivalis Nights FPS: Settings and Performance Fixes
Match low FPS or stuttering to official Lighting Details, fast-travel and long-session guidance, without benchmark promises.
Update #2 adds Lighting Details: lowering it culls more distant lights. If performance drops after fast travel, the developer recommends saving at the destination and reloading. The launch known-issues post recommends restarting after long sessions. These are documented options, not measured FPS gains.

Start with Lighting Details
Install the available game update before looking for this setting. In Graphics Settings, reduce Lighting Details and compare the same scene. The official description says the far-right position disables culling; lowering it turns off lights based on distance.
Change one setting at a time and keep resolution and scene comparable. This comparison is our troubleshooting suggestion, not an independently tested preset.
Choose the branch matching your symptom
| When it happens | Documented action | Check afterward |
|---|---|---|
| After fast travel | Save on arrival, then reload that save (Update #2 workaround). | Compare the destination before and after reload. |
| After several hours | Restart the game (launch known-issues guidance). | Check whether the same scene runs better. |
| Lighting-heavy scenes | Reduce Lighting Details (Update #2 setting). | Compare image quality and frame pacing. |
DLSS, FSR and performance limits
The reviewed official FAQ says upscaling is not currently supported. A future evaluation is not a release date. Do not search for an undocumented DLSS switch or treat a third-party preset as an official fix.
There are no site benchmarks here. Hardware, resolution and saves can change the outcome. Compare official PC requirements with your hardware separately.
If the workaround does not help
Record the installed version, hardware, resolution, settings and steps that trigger the problem. The official support instructions request logs and DxDiag for technical reports. Use the save and log location to locate the relevant files.
A lack of improvement is useful information to include in a report; it is not a reason to assume every performance problem has the same cause. For the separate cloud option, check GeForce NOW availability.

Does the fast-travel workaround fix every PC?
